Fruit Kebabs

Great family dish. The littlest chefs can join in and help make these healthy fruit skewers.

  • 1 fresh pineapple
  • 3 apples
  • 24 strawberries
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 melon cut in balls or squares
  • 1 bunch grapes
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp ginger fresh grated
  • 3/4 cup butter only if you are grilling your fruit
  • 2 Tbsp sugar only if you are grilling


Grilled Fruit Kabobs

  1. Soak Bamboo skewers in water for 1 hour in advance. Pare and cut pineapple, apples, and melons into 1-inch cubes, Leave all other fruit whole. Place all of the apples and bananas in a bowl with the lemon juice and water to cover, to prevent the fruit from turning brown.
  2. Thread your favorite fruit on 6 bamboo skewers . Place in bowl.
  3. TO GRILL: Combine butter, sugar and ginger in 1-quart saucepan. Heat over low heat until butter is melted. Remove from heat; keep warm. Grill kebabs 4 inches from gray coals, turning and basting often with butter sauce. Cook 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned and glazed. These also may be cooked in the broiler or in a large skillet.

Fresh Fruit Kabobs

  1. Thread the fruit on skewers and serve as is. Squeeze some extra lemon juice over the fruit if you are not eating these immediately so they do not turn brown. Serve as is or with yogurt.
