  • 2 cups hazel nuts about 10 ounces shelled
  • 1 pound semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2-4 tbsp vegetable oil coconut oil is great here
  • salt

  1. Place your nuts on a baking sheet in a preheated 350 degree oven, and toast them until they are golden brown, about 10-12 minutes. Be sure to stir them every few minutes minutes to keep them from burning. When toasted rub well with a damp cloth to remove loose skin.
  2. Place in a blender or food processor and blend until a paste is formed, about 3 to 5 minutes. Add one tablespoon of the oil, add more only if necessary to make it smooth and spreadable.
  3. Then melt the chocolate either in a microwave, or use the double boiler method on the stove. Add honey.
  4. Add the warm chocolate mix to the food processor with the hazelnut butter. Taste and add a pinch of salt or an extra squirt of honey,.
  5. Place in 4 8 ounce containers. Refrigerate. This Nutella recipe may be left out at room temperature for a few days. To make it the most spreadable it needs to be at room temperature.
