Oatmeal Raisin Scones

These scones are rich in flavor. Check out our tips for making scones if this is your first time. They are easy but slightly different than other baking.

  • 1 cup rolled oats not instant oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tea salt
  • 1/4 cup butter cold
  • 2/3 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk cold
  • 1 egg cold


  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Grease baking sheet pan or use parchment paper.
  2. Grind oatmeal in food processor or blender. Mix the dry ingredients together. Cut in the cold butter. Mix milk and egg together, stir in dry ingredients. Add raisins. For best results have all the ingredients very cold.
  3. Divide into 3 balls and pat each out into a circle 1/2 inch thick. Cut each into 4 triangular scones.
  4. Bake on an greased baking sheet at 400 degrees F for 12 minutes. Serve warm with honey or jam. Great way to start out your day!
  5. You may use a different dried fruit if you like. You may form into a large circle and then cut into 6 pieces.
