Teriyaki Beef

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sirloin round (1/2 inch thick)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 garlic clove (minced)
  • 1 Tbsp fresh ginger (grated (or 1 teaspoon ground ginger))
  • 1/4 cup green onion (minced)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp sesame oil optional
  • 2 Tbsp rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. Place meat in freezer for about 30 minutes or until firm for easier slicing. Cut off any fat. Slice meat across the grain into very thin strips about 1/8" thick and 3 " long.
  2. In a bowl combine soy, garlic, onion, sugar, Worcestershire, and ginger. Add meat and stir to coat strips evenly. Marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature, stirring occasionally, or overnight in refrigerator.
  3. Drain meat. Quickly stir fry in an uncrowded pan. If you want, remove meat and stir fry your favorite vegetables in the same pan. When the vegetables are ready add the meat just to heat up and serve with some rice.

Rumaki-

  1. 1 10 ounce can of water chestnuts- Wrap one strip around each water chestnut and secure with toothpick. Arrange on baking sheet. Broil for 3 to 4 minutes or until hot (microwave on high for 3 to 4 minutes) Makes 25 pieces.
