Warm Pear or Apple Crumble tastes so satisfying especially in the Fall, the time of year pears and apples are ripe, real comfort food. I love it with vanilla ice cream melting on top. Warm Fruit Crumble is a beautiful dessert on a cold night but do try it any time of the year. Pear or Apple Crumble is a very fast and easy to make and healthy dessert.  This recipe is perfect for any beginner or an experienced chef. This Crumble is a great dessert to have on the buffet table when you have lots of guests that can help themselves to an individual Crumbler.

Warm Pear or Apple Crumble

Crumble is a very fast and easy to make and healthier dessert, low in sugar, high in satisfaction. This Crumble is a warm comfort food dessert perfect for a fall or winter day. Great for any beginner or experienced chef will enjoy making this dessert. The maple syrup adds great flavor. This is also a great dessert to have on the buffet table when you have lots of guests that can help themselves to an individual Crumble.

Ingredients

Pears

  • 4 pears or apples peeled and cut in thick slices (1 pear per serving)
  • 1 Tbsp packed brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp dried cranberries soaked in hot water for about 5 minutes and drained
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 2 1/2 tsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice some lemon zest

Topping

  • 1/3 cup granola
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds (optional) lightly chopped
  • 1/4 tea sea salt
  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted or coconut oil
  • vanilla ice cream yogurt or whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 4 6 ounce ramekins or small baking bowls with cooking spray, (or one baking dish). One per person.

  2. In a bowl, toss pears or apples with the remaining ingredients to coat evenly. Divide between the ramekins.
  3. Mix Topping ingredients together. Add the melted butter and mix well. Divide equally over the ramekins to cover pears
  4. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until golden brown. Serve warm. Top with vanilla ice cream yogurt or whipped cream, optional.
  5. Note: This can also be made in one pie dish or square 8 x 8-inch square or 9 x 13 baking dish instead of four small ones.
